Northern Trust appoints Smith as COO of global fund services

Northern Trust has appointed Paul Smith as chief operating officer of global fund services for the firm’s UK division.
He will enter his new position on 1 June and will succeed Terri Van Praagh, who has been with the firm since 2011.
The move will mark a step up from Smith’s current position as global head of derivative operations.
Smith has worked at Northern Trust since 2004, where he has managed operations teams, spanning services and asset types including derivatives, income, trade and settlements, and cash.
Following a 45-year career in financial services, Van Praagh will retire in May.
He will enter his new position on 1 June and will succeed Terri Van Praagh, who has been with the firm since 2011.
