Citi recently announced several new appointments to its Asia Pacific Prime Finance team, underlining growing demand for hedge fund services in the region. The eight new appointments are located in Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney, and cover key functions such as capital introduction, sales, client servicing, risk management and futures.

"These appointments are an indication of the growth of prime finance in the Asia Pacific region, which Citi is well-placed to capitalise on," said Hannah Goodwin, Head of Prime Finance Asia.

"We have invested considerable resources in building one of the most comprehensive prime finance platforms in Asia, which bears testimony to Citi's commitment to providing class-leading products and services to our clients," Goodwin added.

In Hong Kong, Citi has hired Simon Ng as director and chief operating officer for the futures unit. Simon, who was previously with HSBC, has 13 years' experience and was instrumental in rolling out HSBC's futures product in the region. Dagmar Baeuerle has joined as a director, and will be responsible for the build out of Citi's consultancy services. Previously with Crown Advisors International, a U.S. asset-management company where she was a partner and held dual chief operating officer/chief financial officer roles, she brings considerable hedge fund experience to this role.

Also joining the team are Kenneth Leung as senior vice president in risk management, Mattan Lurie as vice president in the capital introduction team, and Becky Yang as vice president in sales. Kenneth has more than seven years' experience covering prime finance and market risk, while Mattan has raised over $2 billion in the past three years for alternative investment funds in his previous roles at CITIC Íø±¬³Ô¹Ï International Capital and Hony Capital in China. Becky has six year's experience in sales and marketing covering U.S. and Asia institutional and corporate clients.

In Singapore, June Chan has joined as a director in the client servicing team. Prior to joining Citi, she worked for 18 years for Morgan Stanley in New York. Citi has also named Neil Toy as vice president in the sales team. Neil was previously with Goldman Sachs in London where he focused on serving multi-strategy clients.

In Sydney, Miles Tissington has joined the futures desk as a vice president. Miles joins from JP Morgan and has extensive futures experience through his stints in the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia.

"While these appointments give us added capability in several areas, we are still looking to expand our presence in the region, most notably for synthetic and stock loan trading in Hong Kong and Sydney," Goodwin said.
